Expert Witness Service

I am a Principal Clinical Psychologist with over 17 years post-qualification experience in clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology.  Due to my extensive experience in working in a specialist neuropsychology and clinical health psychology service (7+ years) and as an expert witness (5+ years), I am able to offer Expert Witness services for the neuropsychological assessment and treatment of cognitive dysfunction after brain injury or other neurological condition.  I can also provide assessment and treatment on psychological adjustment after injury, for physical health problems and for psychological disorders.

Since 2010, I have been offering medico-legal services along side my NHS work and since 2013 I provide only private clinical and medico-legal services with my clinic based at 10 Harley Street, London.

My most recent post in the NHS was working in a specialist clinical neuropsychology service providing input to the large Neuroscience Department of Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust, London, which covers much of West London and beyond.  I provided diagnostic assessments and recommendations for a range of neurological conditions including head injuries, stroke, the dementias, epilepsy, brain tumours and brain infections.  I had over seven years experience in this post.   A significant number of the assessments undertaken were with those whose first language was not English and who have different cultural backgrounds.  I have extensive experience in working with interpreters in neuropsychological assessment.

I supervised and trained qualified clinical psychologists and trainees in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation.  I was the lead clinical psychologist in managing stroke and rehabilitation services in a number of inner London boroughs.  I provided peer supervision and deputy management for a team of ten full and part time clinical psychologists.

I also carried out clinical therapy work for the adjustment of acute and chronic health and physical problems and for psychological disorders.  This covered both inpatient and outpatient work.  I was the lead psychologist in a diabetes team and set up and ran an outpatient pain management group.  I also provided psychological assessments for those with appearance related concerns for the purposes of NHS funding critieria for cosmetic surgery.  I have previously worked in older adult and adult community mental health teams and a community rehabilitation team.

I have undertaken training through the British Psychological Society continuing professional development programme specifically designed for psychologists acting as Expert Witnesses.  This course included the essential knowledge of being an expert witness, report writing and courtroom skills.  I have completed the online report writing programme provided by Professional Solutions in collaboration with the Expert Witness Institute and Professional Solutions's advanced report writing course. I have also undertaken training in preparing for experts meetings and joint statements, and a clinical negligence expert witness course with Premex.   I have completed a courtroom skills course with Bond Solon. I am aware of the obligations and duties required within the Civil and Criminal Procedure Rules and associated Practice Directions.

I have been providing medico-legal reports for the Courts for over five years. My work to date has been mainly for claimants although I have also prepared reports for defendants and for the Appeal Courts and Family Court.  I complete about 60 reports on average per year.
