Neuropsychology Assessment

I am a fully experienced clinical neuropsychologist.  I have been working in West London's renowned Imperial College Healthcare Neurosciences Service for the past five years and I continue to be based there for my NHS work.  I have a broad range of experience in the neuropsychological assessment of a range of neurological disorders.

These include the follow areas:

  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Neurodegenerative Disorders (eg Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, fronto-temporal dementia, Lewy Bodies Dementia, sub-cortical dementia)
  • Stroke
  • Epilepsy
  • Demyelinating Disease (eg Multiple Sclerosis)
  • Movement Disorders (eg Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease)
  • Brain Tumours
  • Hypoxic injuries due to interruption of oxygen or blood flow to the brain (eg cardiac arrest, carbon monoxide poisoning)
  • Cerebral infection (eg meningitis, encephalitis, cerebral abscess)
  • Alcohol Related Conditions (eg Wernicke's Encephalopathy/ Korsakoff's Syndrome, Alcoholic's Dementia)

Purpose of Assessment

Neuropsychology assessments can be used to help inform on a diagnosis of a neurological condition.  It can also be helpful, particularly in an acquired brain trauma such as stroke or head injury, to provide a measure of the cognitive impairment and to consider an individual's strengths and weakness as a result of this trauma.  It can also make recommendations for future treatment or investigations.

Neuropsychology Procedure

The assessment procedure will usually involve a review of any relevant medical notes, a clinical interview which may also involve a close informant, the administration of a range of appropriate and up-to-date neuropsychology tests, and the completion of a written report.  The report will include a summary of the findings and recommendations for further investigations and management.  If required, I will also provide verbal feedback of the results to the client, something I have found in my experience to be extremely beneficial and valuable for the client.

Cognitive Rehabilitation

I am also able to provide cognitive rehabilitation and psychological therapy and support for any adjustment difficulties following the assessment if required.

Personal Injury Claims

I can provide a neuropsychology assessment measuring any cognitive deficits caused by an incident or accident and make recommendations for further investigations or management.
